Help with a nervous corn snake?

Mercer

New member
I got my first corn snake three days ago, he's still really nervous and it's a bit difficult for me to handle him because he's about three feet long, and constantly trying to get away. I've made sure that I have stayed completely calm and at ease when picking him up and holding him, but he's still incredibly nervous. Is there any way I can help him calm down? Also, is there a certain way I should be holding him?
Thank you

Hi and welcome! :wavey: I would give Allister a few more days to settle in before trying to handle him again. Keep in mind that even if he's in the same tank he was in before, the whole outside world just changed dramatically. It may be helpful to put a worn t-shirt in his tank to help get him used to your scent.

As far as handling goes, this video is kind of cheesy, but it might be helpful.
