i have a 4ft viv that i bought a week ago, and i was just wondering how many gal is this ? i dont understand it and was curious on how big it was!! thanks!!

Ok, here's what I saw somewhere a while ago in relation to tank sized (bear in mind that 1 US Gallon is actually smaller in volume than 1 UK Gallon).

"For a standard rectangular or square tank, multiply H x W x L (in any order) to get total square inches. Then divide the total square inches by 231 to get the (US)gallons. Divide by 277.42 to get (UK)gallons."

Seems to be a pretty accurate formula from what I've checked personally.
 
After some thinging (and double checking on the web), I believe for a cylindrical tank...

Volume = H x pi x R²

H == Height (inches)
Pi == Approx. 3.14159
R == Radius (inches)

This should give you cubic inches, and use the other forumla above to turn that into gallons for your appropriate measurement scheme :)
