The Noob
Im new, and I would liek to make my own tank, I want it to be big enough to last a snake its full 15+ years, would a 3 and a half foot long 1 foot high 1 foot back tank work? I'm planning on buying a year or so old snake so it wont be bothered by such a big tank. Inside of it. i would have 2 inchs of aspen a seralized deer antler, a silk "fake" plant 2 hides on each side and a water bowl.

Anything else besides a heat pad or thermoniter?

If you are wundering I'm going to get a miami.

First off, Welcome to Cornsnake.com
Second, I want to refer you to this thread here.

Husbandry and Basic Care FAQ
This will have everything you need to know to start. Check it out first, also for your first snake, I highly recommend to buy a cage instead. Its cheaper and safer in the long run. I like Zilla's Critter cages, the size we recommend are 20 longs.

I agree with trickster pup, read the FAQ and buy a cage, don't build one. Also -and I'm pretty sure this is in the FAQ, but just incase- BUY A THERMOSTAT and a digital thermometer with a probe, or at least a rheostat (the thermometer is even more important for this one).
Other then that, welcome to the forums :).
