wrong way
i just made my rounds and daily water changes tonight and my one boa girl aphrodite i just got a month or so ago has mites. she hasnt had them until now. and theyre only on her. ive check everywhere else and no other animals i own have them but im still gonna clean everyones enclosure and them anyways. but what do you guys think is the best remedy. id ask on boa forums but out of all forums you guys seem to be the best at helping and are always willing to help everyone out. thanks for anything.

Do work quick and I would move the enclosure despite the fact mites do not normally jump between enclosures however, they can get on you and in the other vivs. I only cared for a snake that had mites while the owner was on vacation. My vet said to care for all my healthy animals first and then the one with mites. If and when you begin treatment I suggest a new outfit for you when done to avoid transporting any unwanted critters to your other animals. Good luck I used something from the vet, but over the counter stuff works well too.

thank you guys. thats why i love this forum. i am glad to say though that she is in shed so i have her quarantined yet again. the only other snake in this room is about 12 feet away. the thing is i just changed all my animals tanks this weekend and i know she didnt have mites then. and i know my corn in this room doesnt cause i had him out yesterday and fed too. and his cage is clean as can be. the thing is that she was in blue so i added a humid hide cause its dry in winter here. and i think the mites came with the moss. so only 1 day of exposure and i just douched her whole tank about 5 times with scalding hot water and bleach then a few times with just really hot water and i cleaned everywhere. any other precautions i should take. i know they say snake mites only affect snakes. but how about my beardie in this room, should she be fine? thanks for any more info. and thanks again for being really kind generous people.

Your beardie will be fine you are right snake mites are different.

ok awesome. i just talked to a local breeder to see his input and he said since shes shedding to just make sure to get her good right when she sheds and get the enclosure too. i soaked her for a hour or 2 tonight in some luke warm water and i only saw like 5 mites. i only had one on me when handling her. so its not a bad infestation like i have seen some others before. but its my first infestation so i freaked out. im gonna do my corn and his viv too. just to be sure hes fine. i dont wanna keep them living so im gonna fight them hard.

Be careful though. I would, just to be safe, keep treating all the animals, just in case it isn't a "snake" mite. You may very well have gotten this thing nipped in the bud. I really hope you did! Don't count on it, though. One of them little nasties could have hitchhiked on something and made it's way anywhere. Due diligence is in order!

Good Luck
