inexpensive probing service....
You may wish to track down a reptile specialist type petstore and and give them a call midweek when they're slower and get hold of the resident expert and arrange to have them "inspect" your snake.
5 dollar fee is typical around here, if it was purchased elsewhere, free if purchased there.

Join the local herpetological society and many of your new friends will be "hip" to proper probing technique.
D.N.A. profiling:
With parrots these days, one can send in a coupla feathers mail order and they send back a d.n.a. profile that can tell one the sex, whether its purebred and with additional tests will tell if the animal is disease free or even if its a "Carrier" of the relatively common, easily transmittable, avian diseases.
A mighty handy service when buying those muey expensive parrot, cockatoo and macaw breeding pairs.
The day will come, soon probably, where one sends in the snakes shed and one will recieve a D.N.A. profile in return.
