how do you bath a snake???

marg

New member
......and what cleaner do you use
......what temperature water
......does he need drying off or keeping warm etc afterwards

thank you

Why do you want to bathe your snake? Every time they slough they get rid of any dirt and that's how they get clean. Providing a water bowl large enough for them to get into should they wish to gives them the opportunity of a bathe if they feel the need.

You don't need to bathe your snake. Some people use it to help if the snake is impacted. Mine don't like the water. You don't use anything but water. You wouldn't use soap or anything like that. The temperature should feel cool to you. They dry off pretty quick all by themselves.

I let my snake swim in the bathtub for exercise, she builds up quite some speed especially when she swims under water, she also always has a poo so it keeps the Viv clean, but I would never consider adding any chemicals to the water (Just luke warm by the way) I just let her crawl through a towel to dry her but thats just part of the game to the best of my knowledge she really enjoys it.

bathing snakes

hiya, :wavey:

I only meant bathe them when they don't fully shed or as someone suggested, to help them poop.
I thought they liked to bathe in warm water sometimes.

I'm just trying to learn :)

I might be older but it doesnt make me snake-wise :dancer:

Also s/he is sniffing and licking the bark in the viv, is this ok/usual?

thank you

I've heard that some seem to enjoy going for a swim, but none of mine like it one bit. They get all upset and start thrashing around.

I only resort to a bathing (in only 1/2"-1" deep water, depending on the size of the snake) if they are constipated.

It may just be looking around for a place to burrow then. My Aztec's on paper since I feed her in her viv to cut down on stress, and after she's eaten, she sniffs around where the mouse was.
