how do you track/set up your breeding projects?

If this is not the right thread for this, can the moderator please let me know and/or move it to the correct area?

My question is this, When you decide that you want to do "x' project/s how do you set up and or track your plan? Is it a written out notebook, or a piece of software, or a diagram? Do you set out a rigid plan that you hand calculate results out to the generation where you hope you will hit your target morph? Or do you add each result to a chart or database as they happen, or what?

I like the corn genetics calculator, but it only allows you to do one 'cross' and show the percentages of what genetic combinations and visual morps are likely. Is there any sort of program or spreadsheet set up that would let you put in initial sets of 'parent' genetics and then generate likely results (showing them) and then let you then track/show the next generations, etc? I guess what I'm thinking of is something like a horse pedigree chart? Where offspring are shown, and each breeding to produce the desired outcome is noted, including breeding back to a parent or relative.

How do you track and set up your projects?

I don't get that extensive...
I have a Word document where I essentially journal things. I've sat down and described the snakes, where I got them, breeding results, future plans, special notes, etc. I also have an Excel file where I keep more tailored specific information like number of eggs, lay date, specific morph and gender outcomes, slug count, etc. I also have a file that I set up prior to breeding season that lays out male, female, morphs and hets, reasons for breeding, and possible outcomes of various things (like PH stuff). That way I know what I might see and what hets are positive if I see certain results.
