How hard is it to pop a hatchling?

I work at a pet store and we have three hatchlings for sale. One is a normal, one a hypo, and the last an amel stripe. I am really interested in both the hypo and the amel stripe, but I want another male for now. Is it really hard to pop them to sex the hatchlings? Can i seriously hurt them if I do it wrong? Thanx!

If you do the popping improperly, then yes, it can seriously hurt and... 'damage' the snake. I believe Kathy Love has some vids of it on her site (corn-utopia.com), but it's best to have someone show it to you and/or help you with it the first (few) time(s) that you do it.

While the video may show what the people do it is much better to see this in person and have someone explain in detail how it is done.
Personally I never pop and always probe. But that is my choice.
Stephen.

It's IMO better to pop than probe because some females might be too deep or males not too deep. It's way more accurate.
Popping is not really hard but you have to have just enough pressure and make sure not to hurt the snake. You can ask a pro to do it at a local herpetological society to do it.

I watched the video a few times and was able to pop all my young snakes with no problems. I felt alot more confident popping then probing since I have no one to teach me in person.
