Desert Diamondback
Well where I live there are alot of snakes. So far I've seen a couple racers and 5 corns. Just wondering how are they so common here when there's not any mice nearby?? Since I've been here I haven't seen not one rodent short of an armadillo(are they rodents?). There are alot of anoles and geckos though. I don't know it just seems weird that there are so many snakes and so little rodents.

Probably the snake population keeps the rodents in check, but mice are secretive little things, and mostly nocturnal, so sampling with live traps the only way to get an accurate estimate of the popuation in the area. The lizards would be a good part of the snake diet too

Oh there are mice around! lol I have lived in a city most of my life and generally, where there are people and garbage etc, there are rodents! lol But I haven't ever seen any "wild" mice alive, only the dead ones the cats bring in...lol

You'd be surprised at the number of small animals that can live in and around your home without you ever seeing them.

i used to work in florida. aahhh i miss it there. :)

i GUARANTEE that there are lots and lots of rodents there for the local snakes!!! also, as someone mentioned, the lizards would be a good part of their diet too.
i used to work out of one of the ports in florida. cape canaveral i think it was. and miami. i do miss it down there.
