How much to feed

The last couple of times I have feed my girl she is out hunting the next day. I bought adult mice but they look a little small to me. When I feed her she doesn't have very much of a bulge and it is gone within a few hours. I think two would be too much. If I can't get bigger mice, should I buy a few fuzzies or something and feed her one of them along with her usual adult mice?

She is around 3 years old. Three feet in length. 3 inches thick. No weight. Still haven't bought a scale. Money goes out faster than it comes in.

Once they are large enough to eat adult mice they won't have a very noticeable belly bulge after eating anymore but that's ok. She is hunting because it's instinct, if she were wild food would be a hit or miss kind of thing, she doesn't understand you will feed her again in a week.

Thanks for the reply. I actually feed her every 14 days. This time she went 17 because of shedding. She won't eat when she is getting ready to shed. She was getting fed every 8 days but I moved it up due to the advice I got on here. She was getting a little pudgy.

Thanks - I am learning, from both of you in this thread so far. My guy is over 4 feet long and only about two inches thick - so either yours is really big, or mine is small. (Anyone else want to "weigh" in on this? - Ha! - I can't afford a scale, either.) And it is really good to know not to expect much of a belly bulge after eating, 'cause I was wondering why I wasn't seeing that.

I have learned so much from everyone on here. Pumpkin is my first pet snake.
I am not sure what the thickness of a normal corn is. I would say my girl is really pudgy. Was getting that bread dough look I have heard described on here. When I got her she had been under fed. My nephew had her and wasn't taking very good care of her. She was only 1 1/2 inches thick then. Once she started getting regular feedings, she took off growing. She started shedding every 4 weeks like clockwork even though she was around 2 years old. She finally slowed down to every 8 weeks.

I have found some really good deals on scales on Amazon but every time payday comes around something more important comes up. I have several pets and three of them are very old and keep having medical problems. I was hoping to get another snake also but that keeps getting put on the back burner.

Never thought I would enjoy having a snake as a pet.

I'll check on those websites. I have actually checked out the Munson feeding plan but it goes by weight and I have only weighed her once. I am definitely buying a scale this payday.
