any ideas that are snake-friendly.??

thanks :D

Tape is not the best idea because it could come unstuck, esp because of the bits of dust from the substrate. If it does come unstuck and your snake gets stuck to it, the snake could potentially suffer minor to severe damage.

The best option is to use silicone or crazy glue so that there is no chance of it coming out of place. Just be sure to keep the snake in an alternate enclosure until the glue has dried and is fume free. No need to have heat in the other enclosure as it will only be there for about 2-4 days just so long as you do not feed the snake while it is in the temp enclosure.

I use BluTak - it's the only sticky stuff I've found that won't stick to the snake. You'll need to check it regularly and change it occasionally (it eventually gets covered in dust from substrate and stops sticking), but it does the job for me.

I've found that a more permanent (or semi-permanent) adhesive makes cleaning the tank awkward.

I use hot glue for mine. It keeps the probe secure but it's also not impossible to remove when I need to disinfect the tanks. Plus it doesn't take long to set!

I also use BluTak, a.k.a. "poster putty". I like it a lot because it's cheap, easy to move, and semi re-useable. As Bitsy said, it does lose it's adhesive qualities after a little while, but again, it's pretty cheap to replace. One pack of it can go a long way! It holds the probe in place very well for normal activity around the viv, and I don't have to worry about anybody getting stuck and losing scales on it. I do check it regularly, just to be sure it hasn't been forced out of position, but no problems yet!

I use the poster putty as well. It's cheap, effective, and easy to remove when I want to thoroughly clean everything.
