how to tell

hi any one know how to sex a corn snake with out a probe i can pop ball pythons but can not pop a corn i just picked up 3 large corns and would like to know thanks for help

It's not a sure thing but look at the vent and the areas on either side.. if they are about the same width it is a male, if it tapers right after the vent it is a female. like I said it's not for sure. You only pop babies not adults, after a year or so they are probed to be sure.

Males tend to have relatively longer, thicker tails than females do....of course it's a mostly subjective thing

Get Kathy Love's book on corn snakes:
Corn Snakes : The Comprehensive Owner's Guide by Kathy & Bill Love, 2005
You can buy it from Kathy Love at cornutopia.com.
Every corn snake owner should own it.

The book has information on sexing corns.

There are also numerous threads on this forum about sexing snakes, so you can do a search.

The basic answer is that you can't be sure what a snake is until you are breeding. If it has hemipenes, it is a boy. If it lays eggs, it is a girl.
Probing is pretty accurate, most of the time.
Tail shape is unreliable, but can give you a pretty good idea.
