I have a problem

I've been planning on owning a snake for quite a while. I've done my research and I have one problem. My parents hate snakes. How can I convince them snakes are great pets and even friendly?

Friendly you might have trouble with, my corn snake is not friendly, how about benign?
As for good pet?
No going for walks
No poop in the yard
No noise
No baths
Cheap food
Can be left alone for days

Are they afraid of snakes? Most people change their shallow perceptions of snakes when they are able to hold one, then they get interested.

mom is afraid of snakes, dad just isn't informed on corn snakes. I told them they are the lowest matinence pet ever. And neither of them will go near a snake.

You might be outta luck, but if you get a chance, get your parents to hold a snake at a zoo or pet store or something. They may change their minds. But probably not. :p

you could tell them:

they are hypoallergenic
no shedding (fur, that is), no walking, spot clean the tank once or twice a week
they eat once a week (on average)
they do not smell
you don't have to pay someone to board them when you go on vacation

good luck though. i'm in the same boat - i have wanted a snake forever. took owning my own place before i was able to get one. i am glad i waited, though. they are a big commitment as they live to be quite old, at 15-20+ yrs.
