hi i am new to breeding frreder mice i know about how to breed them just trying to find a humain way off killing them i hurd you can just freeze pinkys but what about fuzzys and larger mice? please help me

hi thinks for your replys i have just found the info. "i do have a carbon dioxide chamber, a home made one, made by a friend of mine... is three tupperware boxes.... mice go in the big one... then using a two step process the chamber is flooded with Co2.. produced as a result of mixing Bicarbonate of Soda, with vinegar.. this is done in two stages, firstly to induce sleep, then secondly asphixiation.. if you gas them too fast, they gasp and show distress... by gasing in two hits.... the mice stay calm throughout..

You gas them slowly at first causing them to "pass out" calmly. At this point they are alive, but unconscious. After they are asleep you gas them heavily to asphyxiate(suffocate) them.
 
when i do it, i use white vinegar, not brown malt... so not the stuff you put on chips.. when i say white vinegar, i don't mean white wine vinegar.. what i mean is clear, colourless vinegar..

this is done in two stages, firstly to induce sleep, then secondly asphixiation

this means, first of all you give them a small amount of CO2... this makes the little guys sleepy, and they fall asleep... actually, its a result of not enough oxygen to make the brain go round, but.. anyway..

then, once they are sleeping happily... you add a load more CO2... this effectively means there is now NO oxygen left in the tub, and so the mice soffocate....

becasue they are asleep BEFORE they suffocate, its not as distressing for them..

You can use whatever vinegar you like. The point is that you're adding the acid to the bicarb to start the reaction. Plain vinegar that you could use for cleaning or for salad would be fine.
