I picked up a Male BP Today :D

Allalaskan

The Crazy Alaskan
Well I got another bp today :D ANother person moving out and posted it online for $20 bucks and jumped on it. He is shedding so his colors re all faded and choppy looking.

Any way here he is, dont have a name yet. Here is him and his temp viv.

Any way thats him :D Hes going through a rough shed atm.

He's a pretty little thing.

Around here, reptile rescues seem to get in a lot of "normal" BPs. I guess people just move on to fancier morphs, sometimes, and leave their originals behind. I think it's sad. I love my big ol' normal BP, and I wouldn't trade him for a fancy morph--unless it was a REALLY fancy morph, I suppose. You know--one of those $20K "investment" quality snakes :).

well, he had an awfull set up, no hide, UV Florescent light for "heat" and had no humidity in his viv.

I have a humid hide in there and Im fixing to put in a large water dish too.

Ya, I really like the look of normal BPs too. Even if I got a "fancy" morph I have no plans of ever getting rid of my snakes.

Very nice find Charlie:)That is a horrible set up for him, looks like he's in good hands now though.

I've never seen a BP do that like a tree python! My girl is so timid she never comes out of her hide... hasn't eaten since I got her 2 months ago. She's such a sweet thing I hate to see her like this. Super frustrating... I'm picking up a male today. I hope I have better luck with him. He's a yellow belly. Underrated morph.

Ya I was really surprised. I put him in there he went in his hide came right back out checked out his viv and went right up onto the branch lol. He has moved around on it but is still up in the branch this morning and now haha. Im thinking about giving him a bath to help with his shed though, poor guy.

Of course ^^
He liked the camera. He's curious too. When I showed him the picture preview he kept trying to get a closer look. He was probably just attracted to the light but I still like to think he's being vein...

he is a yellow belly. I'm planning on breeding him to another yellow belly to get an ivory (hopefully) which is a white snake.

yay for balls!

Allalaskan, a bath is probably a very good idea for your snake. i can't imagine being comfortable with old skin stuck all over me! i always think it must feel like an old scab. i think that's just me projecting my human feelings onto the snakes, though. :p

sometimes what i do is take a pillowcase and get it wet, wring it out, and then place the snake inside and just leave it in the bathtub for a little while. after a bit you can usually pull the snake out, and rub the skin off with the pillowcase, if the snake hasn't already done it for you!

i find the pillowcase method doesn't work as great for balls as it does for corns, because sometimes the balls just ball up and don't move at all, lol.

I gave him a bath yesterday and it did help some, but he kept trying to climb out of the sink haha. The water wasnt to hot, I had it to where it wasnt warm warm but was a little cool to the touch but he didnt seem to like it. And he HATES being sprayed with the squirt bottle. I think I may try the pillow case trick later today to see if that helps. I noticed on the tip of his tail its kind of hard like a finger nail almost so I wonder how long this poor guy has had to go through this.

^ I get water at about 85F for my BPs if I ever need to soak them. I think the species is just so curious about everything, since my two are active in their bins at any time of the day.

And did someone mention ivory BPs?
