Hello!!! New here, but I've been watching the board for a while.....

Went and got a BEAUTIFUL snow outta Petco on 2/5/08 :-S The guy says that they were fed the day before (but then no help on how old or sex). I grabbed my baby, Phyxious, and took him home. I took him straight to his tank, and after 5 mins of checking him out, I let him take off into his new place......

The next morning I wake up to....regurge. Handling too soon after feeding.....??

OK, I've checked it out (read up on regurge practices), and - I fed him a brained, half pinky (head's up) yesterday (2/14). So far, he's kept it down. I figure I'll give it 7ish days and feed him the rear end.

I know his BOTTOM GLASS temps on the hot side (with a UTH and rheostat)are about 95 (SURFACE of aspen substrate being 85), and the cool side (ambient/room) is pretty much 75. And just like the good boy he is, he's now snoozing in the TP roll on the warm side. :)

So, I got my fingers crossed! I don't see any reason for the last regurge - besides handling - so here's hoping it's easily fixed!!!!

This is my first snake, and first post....and.....well.....

HI!!!!!

He's a tiny little thing yet, and hard to get pics of him...but we're working on it! Hopefully, I'll get a few more meals in him, and he'll be ready for his glamour shots!!!

you might want to lower the glass temp to 85 just so you dont burn your snake because they like to burrow in the aspen

Hi, welcome! I like snows, hope to see a pic of yours soon. Yeah, handling within a day or two of eating can make them regurge. Sounds a bit warm in there for the lil guy... Read up and ask lots of questions, people here are happy to offer help and advice.
Grats on your new pet. I hope he/she is with you for a long time!

If he was fed that soon before you got him, I am not surprised he pushed it back up. Handling is one thing, but a move and a complete environment change is pretty radical. I wouldn't worry about it. Feed him normally, I doubt anything will come up if you leave him be and treat him gently.

As everyone has said, the temps are too high and you should look into bringing them down. Post pics when you get a chance :)

weclome! everyone basically summed it up. so not much more to say here. but have fun and ask questions!

Hi :wavey: welcome to the forum!

I can't wait to see pics of Phyxious.

I agree the regurge was probably caused by handling. Normally it is best to wait 10 days before feeding again after a regurge. I would recommend no handling until the next feed.

Also, as suggested, you need to lower the temp of the glass on the warm side to about 85*. The temp now is too hot and can cause problems.

If you have any more questions be sure and ask!

Again, welcome to the forum!

Thanks everyone! Yeah, I have the rheostat turned down as low as it will go. I was hoping it would cool off more than that, but I guess my next step will have to be thermostat.

I appreciate all the advice. I kinda figured it was still a bit too toasty, but then again, he does spend most of his time in his warm hides, so wasn't sure if it was doing any harm. :shrugs:

He has still kept his half pink down, and I've just been leaving him be for now.:spinner:
