Sigh, I read posts about this happening all the time and as careful as I am it happened to me:

Before leaving on a long weekend trip to Madison I asked my fiance to take Zoe my anery out of the paper lunch bag I had her in for feeding. Now Scott is a good man and I know it was a mistake and I must have told and showed him a million times, but we got home sunday night and I found the lid leaning up against the coffee table and the cage empty of snakes. We found Maisy almost immediatly. I am now preparing myself for the fact that I may never see my precious Zoe again. I did everything ya'll have sugguested on the forum, but to no avail. I have a one year old cat who loves the snakes in more than one way. And I have a half an inch crack under my apartment door which leads to the crazy neighbors who appreciate nothing living...Although I have some hope left I am trying to be realistic....

I have yet to tell Scott that I know it was him, and he has yet to say he did it, I don't think it's necessary as we both now have the concequences grilled into our heads...

I just wanted to vent alittle and tell you guys to post some happy things that may cheer me and Maisy who lost her cage-mate and best friend....
thanks

well

Don't worry to much about the cats. I had my amel get out twice now...and both times he was gone for more than a month. And here at my house we have three cats, and TWO very typical Jack Russell Terriers. And by typical I mean bred to kill anything that is small and moves *LOL* and my snake was never hurt and never even seen by the animals! they are VERY illusive! Just be patient! They turn up in the weirdest places and times.

Sorry about your loss. You sure you wanna marry this person? Sound pretty irrasponsible if you ask me, but you didnt so best of luck to ya. I do hope you find your baby soon. They are always in the last place you look. Try looking in the places where you least expect it to be. GL and keep us informed

look under blankets

try looking under any cltohes or blankets in your closet, thats where i have always found mine. well good luck and i think you will find them soon

Really sorry to hear about your lost snake. Even the most responsible person can get distracted when the lid's off. We all make mistakes. When it happened to me, I was sure Willow was gone for good as she was still very tiny. But she turned up on her own. It seems like more times than not, they show up!!

I have never lost a snake... but Im sure It would be hard for me if it did happen... I would suggest placing some big objects (like a blanket in the corner of a room... let it sit there over night and in the morning lift it up and shake it good... You most likely will get your snake back... just make sure you close any ways out of your apartment... so that she has no escape route... shes probably still in the house... just dont give up hope!

One of my cats knocked over two of my snakes containers, I tore my appartment apart and found both shaken but unhurt. One was in a corner under a banjo case, the other was a little harder to find, it was in the opposite corner under the book case.If there are cats present it would NOT remain in the open long enough to get to the door,it will hide as soon as it can.Good luck!

i'm lucky and have not yet had an escaped snake but my friend did and found her baby python curled up in a sock that she was just about to up in the wash!!!

snakes turn up in the strangest places dont worry she will be back
maybe you could get a friend to look after ur cats for the weekend and then you might stand a chance of being able to find zoe without worrying about little kitty trying to help

chin up and try to :D

When my snake got out, I found him sleeping curled up in the linen closet, in a bag of toilet paper - Charmin. *Aww*

Don't worry, I'm sure Zoe will turn up. We see so many posts from people who found their snakes days, weeks, and even months later. Just be patient, put out the heating pads, flour, plastic bags, mouse, and everything else that has been suggested, and she may very well appear. Good luck!

I hope your snake turns up really soon.

I made a mistake once which lead to me losing a corn. I used to put a tray of moist moss in the tank to raise the humidity, and one day I took the tray out so that I could reach the water bowl when I was changing the water, but I forgot to put the tray of moss back in.....infact I probably didn't put it in on purpose cos the humidity was ok. But I didn't realise that one of my corns was in the moss because all my corns bury themselves under the substrate. I didn't even realise one was missing until the next morning when I went to check up on them.
The poor thing.....I found a poo on the top of the tank next to the moss tray and noticed the pictures on the windowsill had fallen on the floor. We found our corn underneath the carpet in the corner of the room....he was a bit cold but fine.

My fella has repeatedly left the snake door open on numerous occasions now which I'm always getting on at him about and once one of the snakes went missing again, but I found him in one of the drawers beneath the snake tank.

Hey Lisa,
I hope you find your little one soon. I once had my Honduran Milk snake escape. The first few seconds I FREAKED. Then I tried to guess where I would go if I were a snake. Dark and quite.
Checked in the closet behind a small chest of drawres and there she was. That was my fault. I did not lock the lid.
Just two days ago I came home and as I opened my front door there was my Mia ( Anery Corn) just looking up at me as if to say please return me to my home. When I checked the lid the latch was in place but one of the little pegs at back of the lid was not under the lip of the tank. My fault.
I have been very lucky. I now thriple check everything when I go into any of my vivs.
Good luck,
Jimmy C. keep us informed

I'm just worried because she's the little piggy in the tank and loves to eat, I baited her tons of times now and that hasn't worked and because of that I am guessing she's not in the apartment anymore and if she is she's got to be really hungry and getting thin, shes just a baby

sigh....

I can definitely understand your worry. I'd be that worried too if it were one of mine. But it's only been 5 days, right? In terms of food, I'm sure she's not getting thing yet. Think of all those hatchlings who don't eat for a whole month after they've hatched! She's probably getting a bit hungry, but she'll be fine for awhile yet. Keep trying with the bait, and put it in multiple places around the apartment where you think she might find it.

I hope she turns up soon. :)
