Hawkin'

My neighbor was mowing a hayfield today and beeped me on my Nextel. He told me to take a ride up to his hay lot,he had to show me something.I said Ok I'll be up in a little while. He said hurry up I think it's still alive!!! He wouldn't say what it was on the phone, but I figured it was a snake,so I went right up.When I got there he said it was a lizard.I thought Oh great I just flew up here to see a salamander.I went around the tractor tire and there was a SAVANNAH MONITOR laying there!!!!!!!!!!! It was about 30-32" long and very fat.He said he never saw it when he hit it.His dog always follows the tractor,to chase the mice it kicks up.He looked back and the dog was going crazy barking at something ,so he went back, saw it and called me.I hope it escaped and some A$$^@!* didn't dump the poor guy off.

Another case of a pet gone astray.

Some people just shouldn't have pets... or children... or tractors.

Weird. Did it survive?

No,it was dead when I got there.I couldn't tell where it got run over. When I picked it up blood was pouring out of it's mouth and nose.It looked to be in very good shape, maybe even too fat.I'm going to look in the local papers this week and see if it is in the lost and found ads.
