OK, I've been saying this for about a week now but I am definetly getting a snake. It was supposed to be last weekend but there was some crossed wires and now it's looking like the end of next week. All the more time to research. I've ordered a copy of The Corn Snake Manual but I'm not sure when it will come.
I had originaly planned on keeping it in a 48"x24"x24" viv or tank when it got older but I've caught some sort of pre-ownership addiction and I've got plans on getting at least 4 snakes when I move house. So I'm wondering if it would be OK to keep an adult in a 36"x18"x18" viv. They will get out as much as they want for a good stretch (but not at the same time). I'm getting a bit ahead of myself here but I've got a strange mix of paranoia and excitment going on. Any info will be greatly received.

an adult corn needs at least a 20 gallon tank!
so in english terms thats about 3 feet long x 2 feet wide x 2.5/3.5 feet high!
an adult corn will be fine in that from around a year old for the rest of its life you can house more than one corn together although its not recomended
just one more thing
good luck with all ur little ones!! :D

Yeah, the vivs I am building are 36x18x18 and are big enough to house a single corn throughout its life. According to the manual, the MINIMUM size for a single corn is 30x12x12 so you're doing fine (apparently this is the size of a 20 gallon tank).

Thank you everybody.
P.S. Is it just me or does a day take about two weeks to pass when you're waiting for a snake?

Yeah

I have to wait for eight days to get my new snakes and I can't wait that long!!!! I went back to school today which just makes me want to cry (but thankfully, it's my last year!!) so my new anery and amel will be a nice treat for the end of next week.
