My dad's friend had an extra 29 gallon becuase he was goin to buy a bigger tank for his fish so he gave it to me:D. Is this ok for my almost 2 foot snake to live in? Im going to the petstore on sat. to buy all the stuff i need for the cage. I think i am going to go with reptil bark for the substrate,And going to buy an heating pad, and some rocks and maybe a climbing branch , and some hanging plants.

Is there anything else i need to get??? i also got a waterdish already and a screen top.

Hi,
29 gal. is fine, your snake can live in that for the rest of his life.
Do not forget about a termostat for the heat pad.
Also a secure lids for the screen.

I think that is it !!!!

:D

Have a nice day!:p

If I'm not mistaken, a 29 gallon is like a 20 long, but taller. So it should be good as a permanent enclosure.

Hey. I'm new to the forum, but wanted to put my two cents in, according to where you are, I'd pick up a humidity gauage. This helps in alot of dry areas.

On a similar note, I have a tank - but im unsure of the size gallon wise. I know it's at least 20, maybe 25.

Anyway, it's dimensions are 15 1/4" x 12 3/4" x 30".

Im just confused, cause most care sheets and stuff say that a 20 gallon is pretty acceptable. But, i came accross one that said the tank must be at least 4 feet long. Which, mine falls short of by 18".

Is my tank okay? Or, will i need a bigger one. If so, when? (i.e what size should the snake be before i change it)

Thanks

A good rule

The lenght of the front plus the length of one of the sides should be as long or longer than the snake!

20Long = 30" + 12" = 42" So a 42" snake or shorter could live comfortably in this size cage.
