Is he a Ghost?

herpster

I'm a herpaholic
I went to the pet store yesterday, and they had a tub with Anery type As, and there was one little guy who was really light in colour compared to the rest, has beautiful blue eyes, i just had to buy him, he had a good feeding record, and had just eaten that day, i am thinking that he is a ghost corn, i have been wanting a ghost phase for ages, but they are really hard to come by here, he is gorgeous, and I fell in love instantly, if he isnt a ghost he will still be muched loved, and a bonus if he is, heres a few pics.

Nope not in shed, thats what a few have asked, he isnt dull, usually when they are in the opaqe stage the body is dull and has a blue tinge too, he is nice and shiny, you can just tell when they are in shed.

Hope not anyway, I love them eyes :)

He looks like he's in blue phase to me, also. A lot of times it is hard to tell a ghost from an anery. If this little one is a ghost, you'll have to prove it through breeding trials.

yeah the more I look at the pic, i think so too, looking at him in the flesh tho, i cant tell, he just looks normal, hes not dull or anything.

I bet he is either just starting or finishing a shed cycle either way you will know in 4-5 days, he is a really lovely colour.

I agree, he definately looks in a slough. Post some pics when he has shed & his true colouration will be more pronounced.

It is always difficult to identify a cultivar without previous history. Here are some examples of clutch mates, born July '04.

Anerythristic 'A' - a good dark example:

Anerythristic 'A' - a very pale male:

As you may not know the parentage of your hatchling, only breeding trials may confirm if he/she is either a Ghost or an Anerythristic (poss. het Hypo).

Yes...please post some pics after he sheds. He doesn't appear to have much black on him, but I've seen anerys that don't have much black. It's not always a good indicator.

Very nice

Whatever the case, he's a nice looking snake. I have an anery with light grey eyes who you could fool people into believing is a ghost and my ghost female is darker than he was at the same age! Can't wait to get my hands on a Silver Queen Ghost but I haven't seen them available over here and from what I can tell, importing from the US is going to be debilitatingly expensive!
