my snake is 18 inch long, she is approx 5 or 6 months old, she has just shed, i'm still feeding her 2 pinkies a week, could it be time for fuzzies i need to know because i am going to have to buy food at end of week...
 
Best advice i can give is to try it and see. He should be ok as both my "little ones" started on fuxxies at around 16-17 inches and have since romped on size wise.

I can't honestly see their being a problem.
 
its been said that fuzzies are more "nutritious" than the pinkies are is that correct? so if u can feed 3 pinkies just fine it would be better actually for the nake to feed a fuzzie instead?
 
Yeah a fuzzie is more nutrious then a pinkie. Anything bigger then 15 invhes long should be able to handle a fuzzie.
 
the more you feed them the faster they grow? i hear of people having month old corns that are nearly 2 feet? mine is now 5 or 6 months (ive only had her a week) and shes a mere 14 inches or so and not as thick as a sharpy marker.
 
Snakes will grow at different rates. Mine are also 5-6 mo and 1 is eating peach fuzzies and is about 18", the other 3 are eating 2 lg. pinks and are about 16". They are all rather thin at the head, but about the size of a sharpie in the body region. Feeding every 5 days instead of once a week hastens the grow rate as well, though some of mine seem to digest slower and I'd never be able to handle them, so right now I'm feeding them once weekly. Others have a different regimen. It all depends on the snake.
 
that makes a lot of sense.... at this point in time im still trying to get to know my snake.... i know when i bought her on a wednesday the pet shop fed her 2 pinkies on monday. she kinda went to the bathroom on my thursday *day after i bought her* when i was handling her. i didnt know at that point to leave them alone for a bit once u get em. i figured i may try a cycle of feeding one pinky on friday and another on monday.... see how she handles that. i did that this past week nad she took em really well..
 
I have a 3 month old thats between 19 and 20 inches long, she eats a fuzzy (and sometimes a pinky too) every 5 days. She's grown about 2 or 3 inches in the past month and a half. Mine started on fuzzies when she was about 18 inches. My vote is to go for the fuzzies for Ruby.

Nick, did you try feeding her 2 pinks at a time, or do you think she's still too small for that? 14 inches seems so small, she must be adorable, but that seems so tiny for a 6 month old. Maybe someone with more experience can let you know what would be a good amount to feed her. But yes, the more you feed them, the faster they grow (as long as you give them enough time to digest, so they don't regurge it) ;-)
 
ive only fed her twice now the first time i fed her one pinky in her viv. *didnt know not to do that yet* i had to point one of them out to her basically put it in her face and the other she never found so i waited until today to feed her again. i left the second in her viv. the entire night and nothing. i had good luck feeding her on friday and then again today..... i will try two at once in a seperate container maybe friday.....
 
I just read your previous post about the friday and monday feeding schedule. If you feed her friday and then again on monday that only gives her 3 days to digest and everything... I would strongly reccommend waiting 5 days between feedings, at the very least 4 days (if you must). I think that any less is probably unhealthy for your snake. I'm sure someone else who knows for sure will also post here. Right? I'm still somewhat new and don't have all the answers, but there are a lot of people on here who do.
 
instead of a friday-monday feeding, it would be better for the snake if you could feed say every saturday and double the amount of food to give a better chance of digestion and keep everything balanced.
 
i got 2 pinkies left i will feed her them ...then move on to fuzzies, i never have any trouble with feeding so will see how it goes..will update you soon....
