Is my snake sneezing??

I took her out last night and every 2 minutes or so she would make a sound, and i could feel something in her upper body (like a compression) when she did this.
Is she sneezing or coughing? If so, how do i rectify??

I have a 20 gallon tank (maybe it is a viv) with a screen top (so it is hard to regulate humidity). An under the tank heater that sticks to the glass bottom (covering just less than half the bottom). All bought and recommended by my local snake breeder where i bought the snake from. He even set it up for me.
If it makes any difference, she is 5 months old, eating 2 pinky's at a time every 5 days. She ate 2 days before i noticed this behaviour. Her colour is diminishing also (maybe getting ready to shed?).

Snakes can sneeze, and although it can sometimes be caused by a respiratory infection, there would be other symptoms too. Have you noticed anything else odd?

I wouldn't panic just yet. It could be worth raising the temperatures slightly, or changing your substrate. What substrate are you using?

I'd be willing to bet that the sound will go away after shed. If it doesn't, or in the interim the animal develops bubbling, mucous, or open mouth breathing, get it to a vet. You can give it a warmer basking spot of about 90 if you want for a few days too if you think it's an R.I. I thought my amel was sneezing etc. but he was just getting near shed. It all went away right after that.

I am using aspen mulch for a bed.

There is nothing else unusual happening.
How often should she be shedding anyways?? She is 5 months old, and i have had her just over a month now.

Young snakes like yours will generally shed every 4-6 weeks. I suspect that she will get really dull, clear up and then shed. If you're feeding two pinkies, you might want to go up to one fuzzy every 7 days now.

Do they sneeze near shedding??
I know they act all differently but mine never did that. She sneezes if a drop of water landed on her nose but that is all :)

I don't really think it's sneezing, but it sounds like that. I think it's more the dry skin getting around the nasal passages or something.

A 20 L tank with screen lid is very common. So I'm wondering why you have a problem regulating the humidity level. It should be around 40-50 %. Seem to me more folks have problems with wooden Viv and vents.
