Is she really a normal...or a slight hypo?

Snake Queen

rakes snock!
I am in debate about Xena, my snake's, morph label. I have looked at alot of other normals, and they have bigger black bands. She is about a year and a half in this pic, but is now two years and looks the same. Her black is a thin broken line aound her spots and non existent on her head pattern. Any thoughts?

Looks to me like . . .

A banded normal corn snake. But dont take my word, post it up in the photo gallery section and ask if it is, dont think it is hypo though.

Looks more of a banded more than a normal. Normals tend to have a darker reddish brownish color to it...

Just about anything could be considered a normal. That very well could be an extremely good looking normal. But I'd have to side with Kris & Simon on this one, It sure does look like a standard banded.

The importance of the name "hypo"

Hypo denotes not just a snake that has less melanin than average, but that it is the result of a specific trait. If your snake is not expressing the known genetic trait called hypomelanism, it would be a bad idea to call it a hypo, because this can create a lot of confusion. :)

Looks to me....

Like it has some Milksnake phase influence in it's background. The large size of the saddles and lack of some melanine (making it look hypo) makes me think it's selectively bred for those traits. If that is the case, it would still be considered a normal, because it acheives it's looks without the use of a single recessive trait (like hypo).

Is that snake from SerpenCo?

Yup, I got her from Rich two years ago from.... saturday. She is a beauty, and very loving. She was sold as a normal.... but I just was curious as to what everyone else thought. :) I'm sure Rich knew what he was doing.

Ps: I do agree that she looks banded.... a very pretty trait, if I do say so myself! :)
