LETS GO CANES
i was wondering if i can put artificial(plastic) plants in my viv and if it would hurt my snakes i dont think it willl but better safe then sorry and wat type of glue should i use :shrugs:

I use those silk plants with rubber sucker pads... I put them through the dishwasher with the Astroturf to sterilise and clean.

When I have used plastic plants in the past I have not attached them, so I haven't needed to use any glue. With items I have wanted to affix, I have used aquarium silicon, which I have found to work well. Obviosly make sure it is one with no odor, and that it is completely dry before returning your snake to its home.

i too use plastic plant, my male lives in them, but i dont use suckers or glue, just sit them in there and that way if i want to get him out i just lift the whole plant and get him out. :)

hey thanx i think i am just gonna lay them in there and see if the 2 corns i am gettin like them if not i can always take the plants out
im gettin them tomorrow 7/27

Just to clarify

Are you going to be keeping them in the same same viv? You will find many threads on that subject with loudly differing oppinions. I'd be on the better safe than sorry, one snake to a viv side, myself.

Good luck....

im gonna risk it because thats the only way i can keep them is if they r both in the same cage :twoguns:

if you have to house them together , Id suggest that you feed them seperately out of the tank in seperate containers. :)

not nessararily ice9, i feed my two females who live together in the same viv, however it is a large viv and one either end, they both are brilliant eaters, so they both eat at the same rate, sort if thing, so its safe to do that, all depends how they are together really. mine actually know each other. lol. if ones just sitting in the corner and i take my other one out, the one in the corner will immediately come out looking for her. lo. tis so cute
:)

We keep ours together too , without any problems but feed them outside the viv mainly to avoid substrate ingestion (aspen) but also because the scent of the mouse on the other snake can trigger a feeding response from the other. Although apparently this risk is quite small , I prefer not to take it :)

I guess everyone has their own methods. I know that a lot of folk are against keeping corns together , and some of the reasons for not doing so are quite valid but Ive never had a problem myself.

cheers

I have a couple of corns and would like to house them in the same container. It's fairly big. They do not know each other though. I got my first one a year ago and my second one a week ago. Has anyone had any experience with that? I know they can live together especially if they grow up together but they are both males (i think) so I'm not sure how they would react.

If you think they are both males then this would be ill-advised. Also - are they the same size?
If you only got one a week ago you really should have it under quarantine conditions for at least a month to check it isn't ill with anything that it could then pass to the other snake.
People have very strong views on separate or group housing, and if you use the search tool on this board you will find many threads to read,

In my opinion, it is acceptable to house 2 corns together as long as they have been together since they were hatchlings (as long as they are fed seperately). However, adding a new snake into another's "territory" is probably not very good, especially if there is a significant size and age difference. It would probably lead to fights and such.

Thanks for the advice. I've read a lot of the stuff on housing them but wasn't sure on how they would react if put together from different places. I guess I won't be combining the cages though :) thanks.
