Just a few Questions.

Hectorthesnake

Banana Phone.
1. Some people told me to feed my 14', pencil width corn snake, a Fuzzy, a small one to start off. BUT Somone else told me to feed him a hopper. I don't really know much about the feeding and stuff...So could someone help?

2. If I found my snake a log outside to hide in, and climb on. Do I boil it and put it in the oven like I did for the pine shavings?

Any help would be appreciated...

You could have answered both of these questions by using the search feature, but I'll answer them anyway.

Start with pinkies, and if it doesn't leave a noticeable lump you can move up. No 14" corn snake should be on hoppers.

You can bake things you find outside for a few hours at a low temperature. I've never done it, so I'm not going to give you an exact degree to use---use the search feature.

You shouldn't be using pine.

1. feed your snake some thing the same with as the thickest part of his body.
2. yea u bake it and boil it, visi versa

Pine

It says on the bag....Natural Forest floor bedding...Not sure if it's pine or Aspen.

And thank you both. I'll give him a fuzzy.

Someone gave me this link the other day, it is great for us newbies! http://www.rodentpro.com/catalog.asp?prod=3. Monty is approximately 18" long and probably 2 pencils around at his widest, and a large pinky leaves a decent lump in his belly. So, that's what he's on, he might be ready for the "peach fuzzy" size soon, but no way he's up to fuzzies. So I'm sure Hector's not ready for that yet either. If you get him to eat something that is too big you will risk a regurge, that is bad news. Take it slow . . . in fact I may try to get a pic of Monty after I feed him tonight to show you a good lump, someone did that for me. And make sure to leave him alone (NO handling, minimal if absolutely necessary) for 48 hours after he eats to let him digest in peace. Digesting is a big deal for snakes.

Personally I wouldn't put anything I found outside in with my snake, but that's just me. You already got advice about that tho. You should not use that (as you were already told).

Peach Fuzzy Time!

I looked at the sizes of those mice...I have been feeding Hector LARGE PINKIES. Two this time. I think it is time to feed him... :eek1: PEACH FUZZIESSSS

From what I've read, baking stuff from outside doesn't always work, but microwaving seems to be effective. There's a story floating around on here somewhere about a guy who baked a big piece of wood for awhile and then when he dropped it on the floor, a whole ant colony came out - alive.

Wow.

That'd be cool to see em' dead...I THINK IT WOULD.

I've boiled it, baked it, boiled it again, and baked it.....

So if there are any ants in there....they are dead.
