Just a quick question

Snake Charmer 666
Just a quick question i need answering.
I am thinking of getting a new snake, a jungle carpet python, and the only space i have available is on a desk where my TV is.
I was thinking, is it safe to place the TV ontop of the vivarium?(It is strong enough to support the weight)
But is it safe because of any radiation or something like that, that could upset the snake?

Hmm... I don't think it'd be a good idea, not necessarily because of radiation, but because the extra heat the TV would probably give off. It could make the viv too hot. I'd also worry about the noise... the bass and such could give off a lot of vibrations that may stress your snake. I would hope it's at least a front opening tank so you wouldn't be lifting the TV all the time, right?

Its a wooden vivarium.
It is about an inch thick on top, so not much heat is going to be produced inside.
And it is a front opening yes. I would'nt put TV on top if i had to keep lifting it.
Too lazy, lol.
And also, there wouldn't be much noise, because it is rarely used.
But i didn't want to chuck TV away.

In that case, the set up sounds ok. I just read "TV on vivarium" and thought of a glass tank and figured the TV would be used alot. If heat and noise aren't a factor, I can't see any reason why not. As far as radiation goes... I believe it's pretty much everywhere in small quantities. We're all exposed to it daily. I'm not an expert but I don't believe keeping a snake near a television would make a big difference in the long run.

No, i wouldn't risk it with a glass Viv. Probably smash.
But i barely use it, just my girlfriends making me keep it in case she wants to watch something at my house, lol.
And i don't listen to anything loud anyway. I try and keep it at a decent sound level.
Thanks for the help.

Kepp an eye out for pics of him over the next few day. ;)
