about a few months ago i bought an abroreal cage as i was about to purchase a beautiful sorong gtp. well i hit a financial snag and couldn't buy the female. i was just curious since its been a couple of months, what cheaper abroreal snakes are there?

Carpet Pythons are also arboreal, and quite attractive. They are somewhat similar to GTP's in size and shape, but are much easier to care for, overall better temperament, and are much more reasonably priced.
I would go with a Jungle Carpet Python, which are beautiful, and can range in price, most of which is fairly inexpensive. There are many others to look into though, but you can't go wrong with a Carpet Python.

Well a baby would do fine in an 18x18x24, but you would certainly need to upgrade over time. They have similar cage requirements to the Sorong GTP you were interested in, but overall care is much more simple.

I wouldn't put an adult GTP in that size cage, let alone a carpet. Carpet pythons can be very large. A good friend of mine has a 3 year old and he's easily over 6 feet long. Your best best for a cage that size is maybe an Amazon Tree Boa (I have one in a cage that size, although I do feel that it should be a little bigger, but she's thriving and as 'happy' as an ATB can be...read as: She is a nasty little face biter....)
