Wow, Dave! A king found in Britain, I'd name that bad boy George! The side cut doesn't look that bad. The open mouth is definitely a priority. Let us know what the vet says. Probably a respiratory ailment due to the environment. Just a guess :shrugs:

The mouth looks like a case of stomatitus, which can be treated with mouth wash and polysporin (both applied via a q-tip). The cuts can also be treated with polysporin. Good Luck.

JMO but looks like the jaw may be dislocated. I found a bullsnake striking at cars on the road who had done this, by the next day it was back in place. The cut looks like a little simple first aid and it will be fine.
Let us know what the vet has to say. Good save.

edit: It looked to me to have the jaw sideways-didn't notice any swelling. Maybe old eyes :shrugs:

Until you can get to the vet, I'd advise you clean that abrasion out and keep the snake on a paper towel substrate. Also won't hurt to elevate the temps somewhat in the mean time, in case of an RI.

Good Luck!

thanks to all, your help is greatly appreciated
ive upped the temps to keep him warm an avoid RI's (its been cold an wet here so maybe a close call with death for it)
will treat the cut in the meantime and then leave him too it to stop him getting stressed.
im going to bj herps tomorrow (known reptile keeper in the uk) and see what he can do for it!

Dave

Took him to the vets today an he's taken a knock on the head which has cut the inside of that side of his mouth, i have been given vetadine wound cleaner to stop the infection in the mouth and on the cut on its side!
ive put the stuff on the cut in the mouth so hopefully this will stop infection and mouth rot!
thanks for your help
Dave

Wow...what a chance find! Good luck with the little guy Dave, it's a good thing you found him before a cat or fox did or he'd be a gone-er.

Are you going to keep it long term or just re-habilitate it?

it was originaly the plan to take him in an sort him out but since then everyone has got a little attached to him!

I have pointed out that if he does get mouth rot then we could loose him and to try and not get attached, but hes got so much character that everyone has taken to him and lent a hand in paying for any treatments :)

Anyway now we have decided that if he does make it through he will stay with us! :)
