Length vs. Weight...

Just a quick question regarding growth. My two corn snakes eat well -- about every five days. The smaller corn is on medium fuzzies and the larger is on small hoppers.

Both snakes have shed and are growing in length but their weight has been pretty constant. Is this normal??

Same here. I'm not worried. My Kaa eats like a pig. She is visibly getting longer but her weight has only increased marginally...
She looks healthy and is very active though so... :)

If your snakes look and act fine I wouldn't worry too much, but just for the sake of asking, how much have they actually grown?

Here's some age versus length thread. Just for comparing. Says nothing about weight though...

Initially they will only grow in lengh, and apear not to grow in width, which is what most corns do till they reach about 24-30 inches depending on the snake, when they reach this lenght they start to fill out and slow down a little in lenght growth, and will double their langh approx in the next 18 monthes, but will fill out nicley.

do you know how much they will "fill out" will it be like an inch or like 3, and does this depend on the type of corn you have, because i have a Albino Creamcicle corn he is approx. 2 feet long or so and aobut 2 or 3 months old
and i have heard they will grow their maximum legnth by the end of their first year on countless sites. is this true? wanted to hear it from someone who experienced it :twoguns:

usually 2-3 years for full growth bothlengh wise and thickness wise. My adult male is this thick:-

and he is slightly on the thin side, but was thinner when i got him from a local shop.

They seem to be like humans...once a little older and mature they start to grow width wise and not length wise....darn my poochy stomach!

My Amber is about the size of a 2p piece at ther widest and is 3.5feet, Humbug is about twice as big and about 1.5 foot longer! I suppose it just depends on their upbringing and their genes really.

What is a normal growth rate ??

Or size,

I have a male Red Corn that was born September 2002 He's now about 30inches long and about the size of a loonie.

I just received a female Red Albino born in September 2004 and she's 13inches long and the size ofa dime... if that

Is this good?

The Corn Snake Manual also says their eventual adult size depends on where their ancestors came from, with corns from one area growning larger overall than those from another. I agree w/ the poster who said as long as they're active & eating, you're probably fine. :)
