Mail as in the United States Postal Service (USPS) is illegal. Shipping via FedEx or Delta is legal. I have only had one problem in all my years (knock on wood) and that was due to the seller's negligence.

I've ordered 3 of the 4 snakes I have ever purchased and had them shipped via FedEx across the country to me. All arrived in excellent condition and are still quite healthy.

Just make sure you are dealing with a reputable breeder (who is more likely to have shipped often, and does it right), or someone who is knowledgable about shipping snakes. Overnight shipping is a must. Many many people on this forum receive snakes in this manner, and it is pretty common practice. I wouldn't worry too much about it as long as you are ordering from someone who knows their stuff.

Good luck! :)

I just got done reading the tread about Rich Z. "mail order" service. Nothing but great comments about the snakes and the way they were packaged. I am getting a butter from him and he answer all my e-mail in a timely manner. I'm am also sure that the other breeder you will find on the forum have a good rep too.
On the flip side , I have read posts stated that FedEx, UPS or whoevery, sometimes are late ( by hours ) or drop off frozen food on front door step in the heat.
But everything that the breeder did was fine. Most of there business is done through shipping. So each breeder prefers one over the other.
do a search and you'll find for info.

Good luck

I got Cornbread from Don at South Mountain Reptiles. He came overnight and in great condition. Awsome seller. Answers all and any questions regarding your snake and keeps an inventory of your questions with problems on your invoice so he can track your snakes progress. :)
