male not eating and concerned

I have a male corn thats about 5 years old. Every spring he goes off food for a few months, but that normally starts in March (about now). He stopped eating in January sometime. Is this early? Should I be concerned? He is more active now that normal and just shed 2 days ago. Im probably just worrying for nothing, although I dont like wasting food when he doesnt eat it. ^_^

There's been quite a few threads about this just lately, as a lot of males have been going on the spring hunger strike, which to some people is a bit early.

I have a single adult male that so far, touch wood, has never done this, thankfully.

From the threads I've been reading it sounds like pretty normal behaviour though, there have been some suggestions to offer food at a longer interval between tries, so that if he still refuses you won't be wasting as many.

Maybe someone with experience of male hunger strike will come along and help a bit more.

Best wishes and good luck getting him to eat again,

Hello, I also happen have a 5 year old male corn snake.Every year he stops eating for about 6 weeks or so right around this time(give or take a few weeks).By now, Im used to that and have come to expect it .His last meal was about 3 weeks ago.Last week I gave him a single mouse and he had no interest in it at all. I wont bother to try again for a couple more weeks. He has grown to be very easy going and has no fear of me . If he has a dry shed .I hold him with a warm wash cloth and it helps out 100%.

I have read about this , and it is happening right now in my own collection. I am breeding my snakes again this year, and sometimes the males get SO interested in finding the " Ladies"
that they have no interest in feeding. All you can do is offer food and see what happens.
They usually come around to eating again after several weeks.

In fact, I have a few Adult FEMALES , that sometimes don't ACT too interested in eating. I'm trying to bulk them up for egg laying. Some will eat three adult mice, while others will only eat ONE, or TWO.? Again, all I can do is offer, if there not interested, not much I can do, in my opinion. Hope this helps.
