Male or female?

Yesterday I put two of my corns together to breed. It was going well, no fighting so I assumed they were sexed right after about ten minutes the one I know is a male(probed) started to make a jerky pulsing movement as male are supposed to according to the cornsnake manual. But 3 minutes or so after that the one I thought was a female(sold to me as female) started doing it too and then the one that I know is a male wandered off and showed no further interest. Does this mean what I think, that the female is a male? Thanks for the help.

Not necessarily. Both sexes do that jerking motion when they are in the vacinity of a strange snake. The fact that the known male wandered off after a few minutes may simply imply that your female is not yet interested in him.

It could be that you have two males there, but nothing you've written would automatically indicate such to me. Besides, I would have thought they would have chased each other around and neck-wrestled a bit over dominance issues, if they had been males.

You might try introducing the pair together immediately after the female sheds. Something about the scent of a freshly shed female drives my guys crazy!!!

Good luck!

Thanks for the help. I had put them together with in a week of her last shed. But he didn't seem to show interest. Oh well I'll keep trying. Thanks again.
