mating season feeding

Is there a way to encourage you corn to eat during the much publicized mating season? He hasn't eaten since March but is not losing weight I just do not intend on mating him at this time and want to change his mindset if I could...

If he's not losing weight and has no other health worries, I'd leave him alone and just keep offering food at his usual intervals.

You could risk him coming to associate food with stress, and putting him off even more.

As with all males (sorry guys! ), in order for him to do something, he'll have to feel like it was his idea in the first place. All you can do is keep planting the notion and wait for him to take the hint.... :)

you could probably get him to eat live if you're really concerned but otherwise he'll probably fast until his horny goes away.

Mine wouldn't eat anything and I wasn't about to go live with him. They'll eat when they are ready.

Meg is right.
Our 3 year old male corn had not eaten in over a month, was not losong weight, plus we were stressing him out by medicating him for parasites I am still not sure he really had.
Anyway.
His 3rd birthday was June 9th. We got him all new enclosure furnishings etc etc Sang to him and thawed a "fuzzy" (he normally eats a small f/t but he'd been off for so long I think it was Meg who had suggested going a bit smaller).
I dangled and dropped the fuzzy & he slurped the mouse right up.

My male is the same.. He's still on his fast, he will eat prekilled and twitching (and presumably live as well- though I won't do it either) but I'm exercising a little of the old tough-love. I have fed him one p/k per month since he started feeling "romantic" but I don't have any doubt that he will go back to f/t's shortly.
When does mating season generally end? About summer?

With these capive kept, it seems to be whenever they want! Depends upon whether you brumate or not too. If I didn't brumate, he would go off around January, although I think Jade said he quit later this year. My male I bred this year, didn't go off feed at all. Evidently food and love are quite compatible to him!
