Mite problem, a bit concerned.

I have what I believe to be a bit of a mite issue in my snake's viv. I found a fresh poo in there this afternoon, with what appeared to be a bunch of tiny white bugs crawling on it. I removed the poo, and when I opened the top, I noticed a bunch of small white granules around the top of the viv. It resembled either salt or sugar, that same sort of small granule. But, I've never had salt or sugar in my room or anywhere near the viv. Could these be mite eggs? It's sort of stuck to the glass near the very top of the viv.

The thing is, I had just cleaned the darned thing the other day and put down a fresh bag of cypress mulch. I won't have a chance to throughly clean the thing until a couple of days from now, but in the meantime, what steps can I take to control the situation?

I'm considering replacing the cypress mulch with paper towels.

Can these mites potentially cause serious health problems for my snake? I'd hate to see the little guy get sick :(

the bugs your seeing are most likely wood mites they probably came from the cypress mulch i recently had the same problem after alot of research online and speaking with many other users on here whom have also had the same problem they all told me the same thing these mites wont hurt your snake but i still cleaned out my cage again and added aspen bedding and ive not seen any yet but im keeping a close eye on mine its probably a good idea to remove everything from the cage and clean everything i put all of the water bowls and wooden branches in the freezer to try to kill and eggs that may be left i hope it works i was also told you can try to bake any thing that wont melt on a low setting 200 to 300 for about an hour if you find out any other proven methods please let me know hope this helps
