I have mites, how do i get rid of them? how is it possible i got them? can it be from the aspen, bought a new bad and it seems as though they came from this new bag. any way to kill the mites in the bag, or just buy some new aspen?

To start, that sucks.

Are you sure you have mites? They are small and black, they look like poppie seeds or pepper. You find them in the water bowl often. Hard to see on the substraight.

Mites are very unlikely to be found on the aspen unless it has been used before by a snake with mites. They won't stay in the aspen unless there is a snake there for them to feed on.

If you really have mites, that sucks.

I can't find a link, but look for a link using Nix head lice treatment on mites. You mix a full bottle (59 ml) of nix in a gallon of water and spray snake and area. I tried it on some Rough Green snakes a few months ago and it worked very well. It's been debated on this forum but I can't find it right now.

Sorry to hear about your mites, that sucks.

thanks yea im pretty sure they are mites, they are very small and have been found on the snake the last two times he was taken out. my gf said they looked like a bug. i havnt found any in the water bowl. we just replaced the aspen about 2 weeks ago so that the only place i can figure we got them, everything else has been in the cage for 2 months.

so that the only place i can figure we got them,

They are so small and sneaky, you go visit your favorite pet shop and come home with them on you cloths. Good luck. Read that article on Nix. It seems to really work.
