Motley?

I was just wondering what portion of the snakes pattern has to be motley in order for it to be called a motley? Is there a percentage or is it any snake that has a circle or two? I see allot of snakes advertised as "Motley" but, when i see a picture the pattern doesn't even go half way down. If there is a cirtin guideline for labeling a snake a Motley. If so does it also apply to other morphs? like stripes or Aztecs. Thanks

Motley is an on/off genetic trait, and the biggest indicator is the belly. Note that they all aren't supposed to look the same. That's what "motley" means: they are all different.

Some motleys do not have circles all the way down the back, some normals have quite a few circles. The difference is that when you use a motley you are working with a known genotype. :wavey:
