Hey guys, I'm new around here so I just thought I'd show off my two boys! These aren't the best pictures but I couldn't resist..

This is Elvis, I got him back in July when someone brought him into my friends pet store and said that they didn't want him anymore, I've wanted a corn for a really long time so I took him :)

This is Ozzy, I got him about two weeks ago from someone I know, he was very weak and probably would have died if I didn't take him. The person I got him from was feeding him crickets, as that's what the people at PetCo told him to do.. it was very hard to get him to eat his first pinky for me but he finally did it and had eaten twice since I got him.. he's looking better and I think he'll be okay now..

Hi Kim :wavey: Welcome to the forum!

Both Elvis and Ozzy are gorgeous!

You should probably be feeding Ozzy a pink every 4-5 days, if that is possible. He looks a lil small. But, great job for taking Ozzy in and helping him get better!

They look very handsome! :) Good for you on taking on both Ozzy & Elvis and doing the right thing by them...:)

Congrats!

Sorry for the double-post, but thinking about your lil'Ozzy got me thinking that he's a perfect candidate for following The Munson Plan...I did that with my lil'guy, ShugaBoog, and within 6 mos, he's gone from 9 g to 100 g. Healthy lil'rascal now, I do say...!

Before (end of June, with a pink in him) at 9 grams:

Almost 3 months later, this past Sept, at 52 g (the most recent photo I have of him looks cruddy, so this will one will do...but he's even much bigger than in this photo now!):

Your Ozzy & Elvis will look spectacular very soon! :)

I just don't know why those pet stores tell people to feed crickets! :angry01: I got an anery a couple months back in the same condition. She had a scar on her back and lost the tip of her tail. She was only 20 inches long and eating crickets. Now she is 27 inches and thick, around 100 grams. Her scar has healed and the tail has grown back.

Good job taking the little one in. It will be much better off with you. Nice looking snakes. :dancer:

Thanks guys
I'll definitely look into the Munson Plan..

and I don't really get the whole cricket thing for corn snakes at pet stores.. I guess it's quicker and easier to feed that way but how do they expect new owners to feed their hatchlings when they take them home? When pet stores like PetCo get hatchlings, where do they come from? Are they fed a pinky before they go for sale? When I fed Ozzy his first pinky with me, he started chewing on the foot so I pulled it away and eventually he realized that he should eat it head first..
