My Caramel corn called Luna

Hi people,

Stop reading this when you feel you've been bored enough, bye..
I brought Luna a pulse thermostat and installed it today.
I have boxed up the on/off thermostat to maybe use later....
The difference is amazing.
I was getting a fluctuation of 5C but now its only 0.4C.

So I got her out, this was harder than usual.
I normally find her under her favorite hot cave but not today.
She had burrowed under the aspen and kept slithering away from me underneath it.
Once I finally got her out I gave her to my daughter to hold while I installed the thermostat and checked/cleaned out her viv and of course replaced the water.
She was fine really nice and calm.
So before putting her back in her lovely clean home I had a little hold, a little more active but she didn't seem stressed.
She then gave me a little present of a number 1&2 on my t/shirt.

But it washed right out without any problems.
I now know how well her aspen bedding locks away the smell, as it stank.
She's been really active tonight slithering all around the viv, not something I get to see to often.

We're loving Luna.
First pet I've brought for my family and my daughter is 12.
I had loads of pets when I was a child but its never been right for us to do so.
Even my wife likes it as Luna doesn't smell isn't loud and doesn't shed hair all over the house.
I'm sure she'll love Luna even more when she finds out Luna shat on me..

Anyway I'll go again for now, sorry for boring you I just wanted to share about being shat on and buying a pulse thermostat..

On a completely different note.
RIP Robin Williams
Had to mention him as we've shed a tear or two.

I find that my snakes often poop when they're being handled. I think the movement stimulates their bowels, so I usually keep a paper towel handy!

Often.. Errgh.

I've just read that you can tell by a bulge etc, when their likely to empty themselves.
I wasn't even thinking about it but I'm not bothered really.
Two minutes to clean my top, no problems.
Paper towel would have just smeared it into my top, probably not helping.

I'm using the site Iherp after you recommended it , thanks hypnoctopus.
Really handy site for the anal (nerdy) types (me)..

I recently read someone describe a snake about to poo as "waves" just above the cloaca. I thought this was hilarious but spot on. Contractions are another way to describe them. I definitely like to keep a paper towel handy so I can quickly slide it under the snake when I see it coming. Mine seems to pause suddenly before doing the deed. But hey, look at the bright side. Now you don't have to look for it to clean it out of the aspen! Lol

Myca thanks for asking here's a few pictures.
My daughter takes better pictures than I do..

ShelbyScott ta I'll keep my eyes open for next time.

Thanks! I started off being only attracted to the really bright and colorful morphs, but over time I have learned to love the more subdued and subtle colored ones.

Pretty snake! What's your Iherp? :)

Luna is my snakes name, mine is Dyl

Thanks! I started off being only attracted to the really bright and colorful morphs, but over time I have learned to love the more subdued and subtle colored ones.

My daughter really didn't want any kind of red morph.
I didn't want a Carolina.
We both wanted a black/grey colour.
But settled for a Caramel.
Probably as she looks so gorgeous as a young-un.
We didn't have a great choice to choose from really.
But we both like the adult coloured Caramel.
And now we have both fallen for Luna.

I would still like a Charcoal coloured corn.
But I now want to wait some years to buy another.
I want to prove myself as a worthy keeper.

My daughter is just going to be hitting her annoying teenager years so she probably won't care about 'anything' shortly....
