Hi, I'm Benny and i just got my first corn snake. I need answers to some of my questions, so I hope you'll be open to help me a bit.

I fed my snake on last Monday, which was his first day at my house. Is that okay and how often should i feed him?

My snake spends almost all of his time in his rock/hide and I make sure every day that he's in his cage so I always check if he's there, but I know that i should not bother him the first week at home. But i just check him out for few seconds every day, could that lead to any problems later? Is he going to spend more time outside? Should i leave him alone without checking if he's still in his cage?:uhoh:

Well thank you for your help:crazy02:
Benny

First off, Congrats and welcome!!

Now your questions. I would have waited to feed her. Generally when getting a snake it is a good idea to put them in at least a ten day quarantine. By quarantine I don't mean you have to completely ignore them. Checking occasionally is good, make sure they're still in there, still happy, and gives you a little piece of mine =) Feed him at the end of the ten days then put him on his two day feed quarantine. Also, idk if you have him on aspen or what but I would put him on plain white paper towel substrate if he isn't already. This allows you to see if he has mites (They'll show up as tiny little pepper flecks against the white paper towels) As for his staying in his rock hide, that's what corns do. The hide. They are nocturnal so you won't see him moving much during the day. Unless you have the odd one like my friend Jeremy's who like to sprawl across the front of her tank all day, showing off her belly.

Good luck to you and enjoy your little one!
