My incubator!

sorry i know this isn't completely necessary but i'm really proud of this weird incubator i built last year (i didn't need it right away so it sat in a basement for a year). Now it's online though, and i'm going to test it later. Woohoo! (it holds up to 7 clutches)

Lights on (there's a little switch on the side that turns on cold cathode tubes inside that are really, really bright):

Looks good....do the cold cathode lights contribute to the heating or are they just there so you can see? I'm not sure....but very bright light like that may be an issue when the babies are getting ready to hatch...

the cathodes are just for viewing. It will be off with the low blue LED light illuminating it most of the time. I will only turn on the cathodes when i'm getting in there to check on things (the switch is external so i don't have to open it to use the bright light). The blue LEDs are incidental to the fan i selected - it's a fancy-pants computer fan for people who build see-thru boxes, and it's got the LEDs which are cool cause then i can see in there without having to turn on the really bright lights all the time. The reflectix i used to insulate it is covered in foil, which really distributes the light well. It's a little ugly, but it works (i hope).

:D
