Been a while since I posted. Been very busy this summer and this
fall, but had to drop by to post these. . . . Just got this little guy
this past weekend at the Show in Columbia. He's a Phantom Motley
I bought from Jeff Mohr. This is my third now, and my first male. I have
a year and half old Anery that I bought from Lenea (again, at the show
here in Columbia) a year ago. . . . I am going to see if I can mate those
two in a year or so to try my hand at producing some young'uns.

was it labled as motley het phantom? phantoms are hypo charcoals, this guy is not hom for charcoal, maybe hom for hypo

then I'm sure he's a motley het for phantom, but send Jeff a mail and ask him to be sure

Thanks I'll do that.

I know the normal motley pattern is nothing like this one, but had read
that some types of motley's do have a striplike patter vs the normal
round or oval pattern. . . .really just bought this one because I liked
the way he looked. . . .thanks for the help

He's very pretty! But he looks a lot like a Hypo Motley-Stripe. Here's a reference picture of a Hypo Stripe. :}

Looks like a twin brother (or sister) !!

When I first saw him, I thought it was a Normal Stripe myself, but like I
said, I am still new at determining morphs. I have always loved corn snakes
in general, and have wanted one since I was in my mid teens, but my
parents wouldn't allow a snake in the house, and my first wife said if I got
a snake, here and the kids would leave.

:shrugs:

Last May (at the age of 54) I happen to mention to my wife now, that I
always wanted a corn snake, while we were at the Edisto Serpentarium.
Her response was "If you want one, get one" ?!?!?!
That's all it took, and now just a little over a year later, I have three.

Still trying to figure out how to determine what is what. . . . I've learned
a lot over the last year from you guys here, reading through the threads,
and asking questions. (Thanx all). Have a lot more to learn

I am not that great with identifying some of the morphs either. I use this and it helps a lot. If you click on a specific morph it will show you some pics of the morph.

If you're average at 3 snakes/yr, you have far more self control than I!

Very lovely boy you have there, regardless of what he is.

Believe me, I've talked myself out A LOT MORE over that time.

I go to the shows here in Columbia and window shop. I'm like a kid touring
Willy Wonka's Factory !!! . . I want em all. Really love Eastern Kings, and
the Black striped California Kings too, but I have never seen a snake that
compared in beauty to a normal corn snake and have thought that ever
since I saw my first one live at the age of about 14 or so.

If I were a single guy and lots of storage room I'd be knee deep in Corn
snakes right now !!!

:D

Just labled as Motley (M)
then below had aka: Phantom Motley

It is NOT a phantom motley. The label should say in bigger and bold letters: Motley.

Below that is should say in non-bold and smaller letters: Het Hypo, Charcoal.

Below that is should have in small letters and parenthesis: (aka phantom motley)

The aka phantom motley part was to let buyers know that it was the ingredients to a phantom motley project. A phantom motley is hypo, charcoal, motley combined in one animal. The aka label was also to let people know what trade name is part of that snake....i.e some people do not recognize a charcoal hypo as a phantom. I probably should have put aka Het Phantom.

I apologize if the label was not clear and my wife did not explain it. You must have purchased it while I was on stage dealing with my other snakes.

The mistake or error was on my part I'm sure. I just don't know the
exact terminology for most of the morphs, and was familiar with the
Motley term and pattern, but not with the stripelike pattern on this one.
I took the "Phantom Motley" to be the type of Motley that I had purchased.

Thanks for the response and for clearing it up for me.
