My new baby! :)

I just picked up Mal from Petco this evening. I've been drooling over babies for years (ever since my son got his snow corn about 3 years ago), but it never worked out until now.

His (or her!) name is Mal. I meant to get a picture before I put him in his new home, but he was dodging out of the box like crazy and I didn't want to stress him out even more. The guy at Petco was obviously afraid and uncomfortable with the snakes and had a hard time showing them to me, and then I had a hard time making my choice, so I felt like he had plenty of harassment without me trying to keep him in a stupid box to get a good picture. These shots are just before he realized that the thermometer makes a much better hide than all the aspen, two flat rocks, and three terracotta saucers. ;)

I'm guessing this little guy is a normal, but I am really not sure. I am so excited to see what he looks like as he grows! :)

Definitely a normal or classic. He is so cute. I can't wait to see pictures when he is not behind glass. Make sure you keep taking pictures cause I think normals do more changing in the first couple years than any other morph. You will go back and look at the pictures and say WOW!

I handled Mal just a bit yesterday and got some pictures. I wanted to get a good look at him before his first feeding. I love his patterning and colors so much! His belly is so striking to me, with the really clear black and white checks. Our snow doesn't have markings like that so I am just marveling all the time at how amazing Mal looks. He was feisty, too, and struck at me twice while I was getting him out of his viv. I am hoping that bodes well for today's feeding. :)
