RedRaydin

Hey guys, until today I've used heating lights above my tank. I have the ones that you buy that are actually under a hood. One night, one day. Anywayz I keep the day light on in the afternoon and turn the night lamp on at about 9 to simulate night. I live in Virginia so I don't need much light or heat in order to keep my snakes warm. The weather here is perfect for keeping snakes. I never have used anything but lamps. However, I'm switching the tanks today. Raydin is ready to move up to a 20 gallon, so I wanna get it prepared. I'm buying a new log hide, some climbing structures, and a rock hide. Also going to buy some artificial ivy since he loved the ones I had in the ten gallon. But I have been thinking about setting up the under tank heaters. I know your not suppossed to use heat rocks and I steer clear from there. I'm just curious how to set up the under tank heaters. Does it come with tape to tape the wires beneath the cage? Should I buy anything else to help apply it on the tank? Also how much of the 20 gallon would I cover with it? A quarter? Half? I use newspaper for bedding, is that going to cause any problems? If the snake gets under the bedding can he burn himself on the undertank heaters?
Also if anyone could recommend good ones to buy that would be great. Also what are the fire hazard risks involved with these things? Are they better off than lamps? I have cats that may be able to get to the cord and such and I don't want that to cause any problems, although they have been good with the lamps so far. Just let me know how I could go about this if you could. Also while the humidity is steady here, I've never used a humidity or temp gage. I've never had shedding problems with raydin, and never had eating probs. But just to be safe since he will be in a bigger tank should I purchase those as well? If so again, what kinds?
If anyone could post a pic of their under tank heaters after application I would appreciate it so I could get an idea how to go about setting it up. Thanks in advance for the help... hope I get some replys.
