The first pic appears to be a Dark-eyed Junco (Junco Hyemalis). Also know as "Snow birds or Snow Juncos.

Very cool pictures :) Makes me shiver just looking at them. I had to think to myself for a second "What the hell is that white stuff on the tree?"

Nice pictures. When I first moved out to CA from MN we went camping and I was scrambling all over after this neato CA blue jay. It was like 2 times bigger & a different kind of blue. Personally I miss cardinels :(
 
ya i love the cardinals there just such a beautiful shade of red, we have a could families of them around my house but there realy skiddish and i can never get a picture of one. thanks about the compliments i love that camera! its not realy mine though its more like my 75% my dads 25% mine , because he needs it for work.
