Ok, So I know you guys recommend not handling for 4 days to a week for snakes that have been delivered from a breeder, is it the same for ones that you bought at a pet shop? I don't want to stress him out too much. Thanks everyone!

Yes, same rules apply. You want to let you snake settle into it's new surroundings with as little stress as possible. I wouldn't feed it either until one week has passed.

Thanks Comox. I wasn't planning on trying to feed him until sunday. that will give him 6 days to settle in, and for me to find some pinks.

I'm not sure where in the Vancouver area you are, but contact Annie. She is on the BCRC forums. She sells mice and is located in Langley I believe.

Thanks again Comox. I just got ahold of her. I'm in surrey, so very close to Annie. Going to make a trip out there this week.

I love hearing about such responsible pet owners! I wish owners were just as great with all pets. Snake folks for the most part seem to be the best pet people I have ever met. So. . . .when do we get to see this lil one?

Thanks Carnivorous! Ps. Love your name :)
I will put some pictures up right now. they are through the glass though because I didn't want to disturb him yet!

I'm so glad you decided to get another. Here's hoping you have much better luck - you deserve it.

I wouldn't handle the snake until it got onto a consistent feeding routine (has eaten 5 or 6 times). Being in a new place is stressful to a snake. It's important that it eat regularly - the handling can wait.

Well, I just got home from Annie's (who is totally awesome by the way. If you are in the Fraser Valley I totally recommend her). Because Sam was only eating pinkies once a week at the pet store, I am going to start feeding him 2 as he looks to be big enough for it. I warmed up the pinkie, and was putting it in his feeding bin with tongs and accidentally dropped it on him! oops. But, He sniffed it, and then BOOM ate it. He took the 2nd one (a very small one) like a pro too. I gently poured him from the feeding bin back into his tank. I'm so relieved he ate like a champ!

Can't believe how much he's been out and about since I fed him! Seems to be in a much better mood now that he's eaten.yay!
