hi i'm Darren 33 married with 3 daughters, we live in SW Pennsylvania and have 3 cats, a dog, and a leopard gecko..... Our two oldest daughters (7 and 4) both love snakes but until now my wife has been terrified of letting them having a snake... They both think when it comes to birthday time that theyre gonna get a lizard of some description but i've finally talked my wife into letting them get a snake which they dont know about yet... so after lots of research we are looking at getting corn snakes we have kept several other reptiles up til now and cant wait to get them.... I stumbled on the forum by accident whilst searching for information and am glad to be part of it now :dancer:

Hi Darren :wavey: welcome to the forum!

Corns are great for kids because of their ease of care.

This is a great forum, with lots of friendly, knowledgeable people. Any information you need about corn snakes can be found here.

Hello and welcome. I understand your wife completely, I used to be her. I conquered my fear of them for the sake of my son who wanted one. Now, I can honestly say that my snake is the coolest pet that I own. Anyway, welcome to the site, you will learn alot here. Ofcourse, we expect pictures when you get them.

You are going to be the worlds greatest dad on that day...LOL
Well done on filling their dreams....
Welcome to the saddest group of people on earth (those who live and breath snakes)
You'll will get loads of info off here. Post some pics when the great day arrives....

LOL. Great job!!!!

The only way you could improve upon this is to get one for each!!! LOL.

Congrats! Hope to see pics soon!

Hahahaha actually we will.... ones birthday is January the other in July so they'll both get one gonna try and be sneaky and get me a couple too :p

Oh I am so excited for your girls! YOU GUYS ROCK! I understand your wifes fear. I was in the same boat. Up until two months ago I NEVER would have thought I would own a snake. Not to mention, I LOVE HIM TO TINY BITS AND TINY PIECES!

I faced my fear at my kids school when the "Snake Lady" came. It was then I discovered Corn Snakes. I held my first snake that day (I am 36) and fell in love. One week later I had me a 1 month old Amel names Cyrus!

I was sold on their temperment and their lack of fangs!!! Cyrus has been sweet and amazing, you have made a great choice for your girls!

We can't wait to see pictures of them when you get them! If I may add.....Christmas comes way before their Birthdays. You could be cooler parents sooner then January! Just my 2 cents!

Welcome to the boards! Corn snakes are definitely a good first snake ... but be sure to let them settle for about a week in their new tank when you get it. :)
