Learning about Corns
We purchased our first corn snake today. It's a beautiful little snake. My kids named him Blaze. Can someone please tell me what color phase he/she is? Thanks a bunch!

It apears to be a hypo, but I've never had a hypo so i dont know that much about them. but sooner or later you will get the definite answer, not saying that im wrong cause im 98% sure thats what it is, but someone with a more expert opinion on the matter will surely be along.

Welcome! And congrats on getting your very first corn! Blaze is lovely!

I would also say he/she is a hypomelanistic...but no ideas what hets he/she may have...

Would like to hear from the big guys as to their opinion...lol

Best of luck with your new baby!

Im going for hypo as well, but for some other reason (dont know what yet :shrugs: ),there's something else screaming out to me....when I figure it out...I'll post it.
Very nice snake
:crazy02:

Congrats on your first little critter and welcome to the site.

I'm still learning morphs myself, but I find myself agreeing with the 'hypo' verdict on that lovely little critter. Though, I'd be more apt to say Crimson (hypo miami) or Cinnamon (hypo rootbeer) before just a straight hypo. There are so many possible genes involved, so one can never be certain unless you purchase directly from the breeder.

Someone with tons more experience will most likely come along and add more info though, and a better guess as to what it could be.

Jenn,I was also going to say "maybe" Crimson, but there's just a bit too much yellow for that I believe.. :shrugs: ,My second thought was a hybrid... :shrugs:
For some reason,Im still sceptical,I tend to agree with you about the miriad of genes involved in this little one...which makes this a bit of an enigma.
I hope someone can clear this up as to what it could be...

My first thought was Crimson. I think the yellow we're seeing might just be the lighting, but it's so hard to tell from pics.

Whichever morph, Blaze is a beauty :)

Thank you, everyone! When we went to the store to choose a snake, Blaze really stood out from the others. The kids and I immediately decided he was the snake for us. The pictures really don't do him justice. I was unable to find a photo of his morph so I decided to come here for help from the corn snake 'experts'.

Blaze is our first corn snake. We have a small green snake but my kids wanted something bigger. I decided to do some research and decided that a corn would be a good choice. So far I am very impressed with the little guy. He is very friendly and calm and made himself right at home. We bought him a nice 20 gallon tank with all of the necessary accessories. The kids love him!

Thanks again,
Cecilia
