New Snake Grandma

Hi All... :wavey: After telling my boys "no way are you getting a snake" I finally broke down and let one of them get one. AND I'm hooked. I never realized how absolutely cool these guys are. My first Grand-snake is Sandy and she is a normal (however, I personally think there is nothing normal about her and she is stunning! :) Then shortly after we got her home and set up my older son says "Mom, why wouldn't you ever let me get one?" So back to the store we go and he gets a Snow which he named Trinity. (She has grown on me, I originally thought she was strange looking) They are technically the boys snakes in that they are each set up with a viv in their rooms but Grandma here assures the watering, and the feeding.

To be honest, I never realized how different they could be. Sandy is totally laid back and doesn't really care if you pick her up. I think Trinity is a spazz and she winds around my fingers and never stops moving the whole time she is being held. I don't know if it's just different personality traits or if it has to do with one being a normal and one being snow :shrugs: Doesn't really matter, makes them each their own little being!

So now after much reading including Cathy's Loves book and much web research, I am smitten! And I want one of my own! My friends are worried about me, and are calling me "snake girl" but I don't care. I'd rather take care of these guys than guinea pigs or hamsters anyday!!!

I'm looking forward to reading more here and getting all the info I can!

Hi there, great to hear another has succumed to cornsnakes, my boys have helpfully informed me that I will be known as 'the crazy old snake lady' when I told them how long the snakes live

Yeah, my husband and I have already figured out that the boys will probably leave home and we'll get custody of the snakes. Oh well...I'm getting pretty attached to them anyway!

Welcome to the site!!!!!!!! There is a lot of information here. Be sure to read the FAQ section in the forums. They answer a lot of questions

Welcome to the site :) mine have different personality traits as well. Some always hang out near the front of the tank and when I open it instantly want to come out :) The Anery I have will sit curled up inside my sleeve while I'm on the computer, lol.

Your snow will most likely settle down, I have a snow that is totally mellow. Hatchlings can be a bit flighty at times though - normals, snows, any kind.

My co-workers call me the snake charmer  ! I agree about the furry critters. I had them growing up but I prefer taking care of the snakes! Have fun with your grand-babies!
