New to Corns and a few questions

Peeple of zee wurl, relax
Hi All-

I have been reading up and studying these guys for about a month now and I took the advice I found here and just set up my viv. It's one of those herp heaven thingies with all the trimmings...UTH, retrostat, a small light, 2 hides and of course a water dish.

I used to catch and keep garters and racers as a kid but only held on to them for a day or two...basically as long as i could be fore my Mom found them. :) And since I don't have to worry about scaring any room mates I decided to get a snake and hold on to it for longer than a day or two. Anyway, here's my question:

The Petco by my place has three hatchlings for sale and eventhough I don't have the experience I am guessing that one is an amel, one looks to be a snow and the third looks normal. Has anyone ever had a good experience with pet store corns? They are way more inexpensive than the ones I find on the net, but I feel like I know what I am getting with a breeder...hence the higher price. But I am concerned that if I screw up somehow and the little one dies on me I am out 100 bucks. Not too mention the guilt...

So if anyone has any recommendations for me I would a appreciate it.

Thanks!

You need to let people here know what metropolian area you live by. If there's a herp show near by, you'll beat pet shop pricing by close to or more than 1/2 AND you'll have the satisfaction of knowing you're probably getting a well cared for animal.

I'm not familiar with the area myself, but know 2 breeders who frequent this site, Hurley and Serpwidgets. Both are from the Chicago area and usually have some beautiful animals you could pick from, as well as information on shows in the area. You can click on their name at the bottom of the "HOME" page and use the PM option to send them a message. That is if they don't see your thread and respond 1st.

Good Luck and welcome to the addiction!:grin01:
